The mission of this project is to assist the low income and homeless people in our community to have free access to healthy eating choices by growing, and showing people how to grow community gardens in which people can share the food grown for free.
Problem Statement
We will address this by making a food is free campaign in our community of the San Fernando Valley. We have a greenhouse at our school that is not being used that we will practice on. If funded, then we can go out into our community and grow boxed gardens instead of the weeds and dead grass that we currently see. We hope to start a movement to get community members involved as well, so we can teach them how to grow food on their own so they will be able to make healthy eating choices, and no longer go hungry.
Project Plan
Each member is studying a specialty to help with the project. We go to a Title I school, where everyone is given free lunches, but what happens to their health when they leave school? We want to address that.
